Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar picked Sandeep Patil, Kapil Dev, and BS Chandrashekhar as some of the cricketers from his generation, who he would have loved to see play the shortest version of the game, more so in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The 73-year-old feels that Chandrashekhar would have been a great pick for T20 cricket as his action was not just suited for Test cricket but also for ODI and T20 cricket.
“Look, a batsman I would like to see would be Sandeep Patil, there is only one all-rounder who I would choose – Kapil Dev, for the bowler, I would like to see BS Chandrashekhar play in the T20 format because his bowling action was not suited only for test cricket, but one day cricket and T20 cricket would also be easy for him,” said Gavaskar in a Q&A session on Star Sports.
