New Delhi: Tamil Nadu MLAs have given themselves a generous hike of Rs 50,000, taking their monthly salaries to Rs 1.05 lakh at a time when farmers from the state have been vociferously protesting for loan waivers. The announcement to the effect was made by Chief Minister E Palaniswami in the Assembly on Wednesday.

New Delhi: The Government has said that the implementation of Goods and Services Tax will be immensely beneficial for the country as well as the states. Quoting Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananth Kumar said on Wednesday that the taxation system in the country has become more transparent after GST came into existence.

New Delhi: T R Zeliang has been sworn in as the Chief Minister of Nagaland. With TR Zeliang claiming the majority support of 47 members of the Legislative Assembly, the State Governor P.B. Acharya invited him to form the government. The Governor further directed TR Zeliang to prove his majority on the floor of the House on the 22nd of this month.

New Delhi: The counting for the Presidential election will be held on Wednesday at 11 AM. The ballot box of Parliament House would be opened first, and then the ballot boxes received from the states would be counted by alphabetical order. 

New Delhi: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar held a meeting with his deputy Tejaswi Yadav on Tuesday for the first time amid coalition crisis arising due to registration of a case against Yadav by CBI in land for railway hotels case. The meeting assumes special significance in view of the fact that CM has not reacted to the corruption allegations against Tejaswi except asking him to give point-by-point rebuttal to CBI charges.
