North India in the grip of severe cold and dense fog

Several parts of northern India reeled under severe cold wave conditions even as a thick layer of fog continued to engulf most parts of the region in the morning and in the evening affecting daily life. Rail, road, and aerial traffic took a major hit due to low visibility.

The lowest minimum temperatures on Tuesday in the plains of north India were recorded at 0.7 degrees Celsius in Haryana’s Mahendragarh while Hisar recorded a minimum of 1.1 degrees Celsius and at Panchkula 1.8 degrees Celsius. Delhi’s Jafarpur recorded 2.7 degrees C, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD)

Another cheetah dies at Kuno National Park

A cheetah from Namibia died on Tuesday at Kuno National Park (KNP), in Sheopur. This is the 10th death of cheetah at KNP. Now, there are 13 adult cheetahs with four cubs at KNP.

A seven-year-old cheetah named ‘Shaurya’ was found in an unconscious state in a predator-free enclosure on Tuesday. Later, he died at around 3 PM, said Aseem Shrivastava, principal chief conservator of forest (PCCF), (wildlife).

Over 24.8cr people moved out of multidimensional poverty in India in 9 years, NITI Aayog report

A recent report by NITI Aayog revealed that a staggering 24.82 crore individuals have escaped multidimensional poverty in India between 2013-14 and 2022-23.

Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Madhya Pradesh have shown the most significant decline in this regard.

Multidimensional poverty is determined by improvements in healthcare, education, and standard of living, as stated by the report.
