Assam CM Himanta Sarma denies Rs 10 crore subsidy charge, ‘Neither my wife nor company…'

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has asserted that his wife or her firm never received funds from the central government. His reaction came after Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi alleged that Himanta's wife's firm Private East Entertainments Private Limited got Rs 10 crore as part of a credit-linked subsidy from the Centre.

"I would like to clarify that neither my wife nor the company she is associated with has ever received any financial subsidies from the Government of India," Sarma wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

US Health Agency Approves COVID Booster For Age 6 Months And Above Amid Rising Cases, Hospitalization

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention director has recommendated that all Americans aged 6 months and older should receive the updated COVID booster on Tuesday amid rising cases and hospitalizations across the country. It comes just a day after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration authorized and approved the new shot.

The severity of the COVID-19 pandemic has faded, but there are still thousands of hospitalizations and hundreds of deaths in the U.S. each week. Hospitalizations have been increasing since late summer, though the latest data indicate infections may be starting to level off, particularly in the South.

‘#MeToo Moment for UK NHS’: Surgeon Sexually Assaulted during Surgery, 11 Rape Cases Surface

At least one in three female surgeons in the UK’s National Health Service (NHS) have been sexually assaulted in the last five years. The survey has been described as a “#MeToo movement for surgery” by members of the NHS.

The survey conducted by the British Journal of Surgery reported 11 instances of rape, according to reports by the BBC and the Times.

Among the respondents, all of whom were female surgeons, 30% said they were sexually assaulted, 29% of women were subjected to unwanted physical advances at work, more than 40% had received uninvited comments about their body and 38% receiving sexually directed comments or “banter” at work.

Monu Manesar, Whose Name Came Up During Nuh Violence, Sent to 14-Day Judicial Custody

Monu Manesar, the cow vigilante whose name came up during communal violence in Nuh in July, has been sent to a 14-day judicial custody after he was detained in Haryana’s Manesar. Mohit Yadav a.k.a. Monu Manesar, who is also the prime accused in the case of the death of two Muslim youths — whose charred bodies were found in a car in Rajasthan’s Bhiwani, has been absconding for the past seven months.

The police said a pistol, three live bullets and a mobile phone were seized from Manesar.
