Tamil Nadu: After days of bickering, AIADMK announces snapping ties with BJP

The bickering between allies AIADMK and BJP in Tamil Nadu over late Dravidian stalwart CN Annadurai peaked on Monday with the regional party snapping ties with the saffron organisation, saying it cannot tolerate any affront to the late Chief Minister and its other leaders. The party trained its guns against BJP TN president K Annamalai, saying he was only keen to "promote" himself and was therefore targeting late Dravidian stalwarts Annadurai, fondly addressed as Anna (elder brother), EV Ramasamy Periyar and late AIADMK veterans MG Ramachandran (MGR) and J Jayalalithaa.

CRPF’s Elite CoBRA Unit Deployed for First Time in Kashmir

The Central Reserve Police Force’s elite CoBRA unit has been deployed in J&K for the first time, sources told News18 on Monday, indicating that security missions similar to the anti-Naxal operations in Left-Wing Extremist areas could be carried out in the Valley.

Sources said the Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA) units, previously stationed in Bihar and Jharkhand, were stationed in Kashmir’s Kupwara after being brought for training in April. They, however, weren’t given any assignments yet. “But now, they are ready for deployment,” a source said.

Recently, DMK leaders Udhayanidhi Stalin and A Raja triggered a controversy after they claimed that Sanatan Dharma had sown divisions in society and must be eradicated on the lines of diseases like dengue, malaria and coronavirus.

Sonia Gandhi, the Congress veteran, on Sunday announced six guarantees for the poll-bound Telangana and assured that her party are committed to fulfilling each one of them.

Addressing a rally in Tukkuguda near Hyderabad, Gandhi said, " ₹2,500 per month financial assistance will be given to women in Telangana under the Mahalakshmi scheme, gas cylinders at ₹500, and free travel for women in TSRC buses across the state, to fulfill the aspirations of the people of Telangana we are announcing 6 guarantees and we are committed to fulfill each one of them."
