Ashok Gehlot taunts PM Modi, Amit Shah, 'Half of the MLAs would have left if...'

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Tuesday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union home minister Amit Shah couldn't topple his government even when the governments in Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Karnataka collapsed following rebellion of ruling parties' MLAs.

Gehlot's party, the Congress, was in power in all these states.

Gehlot said had the people of Rajasthan weren't in support, half of the MLAs would have left.

Tamil Nadu: Eight persons killed in explosions at two firecracker units in Virudhunagar

Eight persons were killed in two separate explosions that took place at fireworks units in Tamil Nadu's Virudhunagar district on Tuesday, police said.

Police, fire and rescue service personnel were pressed into service to extinguish the flames.

"Seven charred bodies were recovered from the sudden blast at the fireworks unit in Sivakasi and their identities are yet to be established," a senior police official told PTI.

DK Shivakumar on ₹82 crore recovered in Karnataka: 'BJP's money'

Karnataka deputy chief minister DK Shivakumar on Tuesday rebutted the BJP's charge that ₹82 crore recovered in the state recently was linked to the Congress, saying the JP Nadda-led party was the "foundation of corruption". The Congress stalwart claimed the unaccounted cash and assets unearthed in the Income Tax department's raids belonged to BJP leaders.

"Entire corruption is by the BJP only. The BJP is the foundation of corruption, that's why the people of Karnataka threw them away. Money that has been found is linked to BJP leaders and it is nowhere connected to the Congress government," he told ANI.

‘India always stood with Palestine, unfortunate that PM Modi...': Sharad Pawar

Amid the Israel-Hamas war, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar on Sunday said that India always stood for the cause of Palestine.

Addressing a gathering of NCP workers in Mumbai, Pawar said former Prime Ministers of India also "stood firmly with Palestine".

"We want peace in the world. Now, there is a war going on between Israel and Palestine. That entire land is of Palestine and Israel encroached on their land. That place, land and houses, everything was of Palestine and later Israel took over it. Israel is an outsider and the land is originally of Palestine. After encroachment, Israel was formed."
