UK PM Rishi Sunak faces first no-confidence letter following cabinet rejig

UK prime minister Rishi Sunak has been hit with his first no confidence letter after firing interior minister Suella Braverman.

Rishi Sunak's party member, Andrea Jenkyns, wrote a letter to 1922 Committee chairman Sir Graham Brady criticising Sunak for "getting rid of our democratically elected leader Boris Johnson", and said , "Enough is enough".

Forcing Boris Johnson out was “unforgivable enough”, but “to purge the centre-right from his cabinet and then sack Suella who was the only person in the cabinet with the balls to speak the truth of the appalling state of our streets and a two-tier policing system that leaves Jewish community in fear for their lives and safety", she said adding that she submitted her no confidence letter in Rishi Sunak “to stand up and fight for true Conservatism”.

82 drones seized, 593 sightings on Pakistan border

From drugs to weapons to cash, security agencies have noted the increasing use of drones as “carriers” from across the border. Since 2019, the Border Security Force (BSF) and Punjab Police have recovered 82 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and reported 593 drone sightings along the India-Pakistan border, The Indian Express has learnt.

A security establishment official said drone payload recoveries in the past year included “317 kg heroin, 10 kg RDX, 10 IEDs, 512 firearms, 56 hand grenades, 12 AK-47 rifles, 128 pistols and Rs 18 lakh in cash”.

EAM Jaishankar offers prayers at Swaminarayan temple in London, addresses diaspora

External affairs minister S Jaishankar visited the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, commonly known as the Neasden Temple, in London on the auspicious occasion of Diwali. Addressing the Indian diaspora at the temple, Jaishankar extended his Diwali greetings to the gathering and expressed the joy of being present “among our own people” during the festive season.

“Shubh Diwali to all of you. Nothing can be happier than being among our own people on such an auspicious occasion. I am here on a visit to the United Kingdom and it was natural that on an occasion like Deepawali, I would look for the opportunity to come and be with the members of the community,” the minister said.

KCR's party leader attacked during election campaign in Telangana, hospitalised

Tension gripped Achampet in Telangana as Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLA Guvvala Balaraju was allegedly attacked by Congress workers during his campaign ahead of the Assembly election.

He was shifted to Apollo hospital in Hyderabad.

Balaraju was attacked when a scuffle broke out between BRS workers and Congress leaders. Four cars and cameras were destroyed in the alleged attack.
