Gyanvapi row: Vedic Sangh chief seeks ban on disclosing survey details

After the Hindu side, the mosque committee has urged the Varanasi district court to not allow survey photos and videos to come into the public domain.

Masjid side lawyer Abhaynath Yadav said that it will be difficult to work if the survey report is out.

“We have pleaded that the commission report, photographs, and videos be shared with only the concerned parties and that the report is not made public. The hearing will be taken up on 30th May,” said Advocate Merajuddin Siddiqui, lawyer of the Muslim side in the Gyanvapi mosque survey matter.

Sacked Punjab minister Vijay Singla sent in 14-day judicial custody

A Mohali court on Friday sent sacked Punjab minister Vijay Singla to 14-day judicial custody.

Singla, who held the health portfolio in the state government, was arrested on corruption charge on Tuesday after chief minister Bhagwant Mann sacked him as he was accused of demanding “one per cent commission” in tenders and purchases by his department.

Earlier, the court had sent him to three-day police custody till Friday.

Pardeep Kumar, who was Singla’s Officer on Special Duty (OSD), too has been sent to judicial custody till June 10. The next date of hearing is June 10.

Aryan Khan gets clean chit from NCB, Ram Gopal Varma, Pooja Bhatt react 'Subjecting innocent people to harassment'

Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma and actor Pooja Bhatt have reacted after Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan was given a clean chit in the drugs case. Last year, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) conducted a raid on the Goa-bound Cordelia cruise ship. Aryan was arrested by the NCB in October 2021. Tagging Shah Rukh Khan, Ram Gopal Varma tweeted, “The only good thing which came about in #AryanKhan case is him being a celebrity @iamsrk’s son. It helped in vastly exposing the inefficiency and recklessness of various agencies subjecting innocent people to harassment which otherwise the common people can’t and won’t know of.”

IAS Officer who walked his dog at Delhi stadium transferred to Ladakh

As officer Sanjeev Khirwar, who sparked national outrage for taking his dog for a walk at Delhi’s Thyagaraj Stadium, was on Thursday transferred to Ladakh by the Union Home Ministry (MHA). His IAS wife, Rinku Dugga, also faced the axe as she was transferred to Arunachal Pradesh.

Khirwar, Delhi’s Principal Secretary (Revenue), reportedly used to take his dog for a walk at the Thyagraj Stadium, leading athletes and coaches at the Delhi government-run stadium to complain about being forced to wrap up training earlier than usual, by 7 pm. The incident triggered a social media storm with politicians slamming the bureaucrat for “misusing his authority”.

Sidhu's special jail diet: Lactose-free milk, chia seeds and more

Former Punjab Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu, who is currently serving a one-year sentence in Patiala jail for a road rage case, has been recommended a diet chart considering his medical condition. The special diet has been prescribed after an analysis of his health.

Sidhu had earlier moved an application before the court of Patiala chief judicial magistrate (CJM) on Friday, the day he surrendered in the 34-year-old case, seeking permission for a special diet to be made available to him from home given his health complications.

The court of CJM Amit Malhan had ordered the constitution of a board of doctors at Rajindra Hospital in Patiala to examine Sidhu and submit a report.
