Western Railway is moving ahead to transform Indian Railways into a world-class railway with enhanced speed, safety and service. To enhance the travelling experience, WR has accomplished important mobility improvement works recently. Continuing in this direction, WR has eased speed restrictions on Harbour lines between Andheri and Goregaon stations as well as removed subway protrusion at Churchgate station to relax speed restrictions.

According to Sumit Thakur – Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railway, the speed restriction on Major Bridge No. 46 on UP and DOWN Harbour Lines has been relaxed. Now suburban trains will run at a sectional speed between Andheri and Goregaon stations. Besides this, WR has also completed the work of removing subway protrusion on Platform No. 1/2 at Churchgate station.

Mumbai Court allows Sachin Vaze's plea to turn prosecution witness in corruption case against ex-Maharashtra minister Anil Deshmukh

A special court here on Wednesday allowed dismissed police officer Sachin Vaze's plea to turn an approver in a corruption case involving former Maharashtra home minister Anil Deshmukh.

Last week, Vaze had filed an application in the Special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court to become an approver against Deshmukh in the alleged corruption case. The CBI had then given its nod to his application with conditions.

Vaze was arrested in March last year for his alleged role in the case of an explosives-laden vehicle found near industrialist Mukesh Ambani's residence in south Mumbai and the murder of Thane businessman Mansukh Hiran. He is currently in judicial custody.

Bhopal: BJP candidates, both women, file nomination papers

The BJP candidates for Rajya Sabha election Kavita Patidar and Sumitra Valmiki filed their nomination papers before the returning officer AP Singh on state assembly premises on Tuesday.

Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, several ministerial colleagues, state BJP president VD Sharma and several other prominent BJP leaders were present on the occasion.

Kavita Patidar comes from other backward classes (OBCs) from Malwa region while Valmiki comes from dalit community from Jabalpur in Mahakoshal region.

Centre to clear appointment of Sadiq Wasim Nagral as judge of J&K High Court

The Centre is set to clear the Supreme Court Collegium’s recommendation to appoint advocate Sadiq Wasim Nagral as judge of the Jammu and Kashmir High Court, The Indian Express has learnt.

Nagral’s was the oldest recommendation pending with the government. The process began with the High Court Collegium’s recommendation on August 24, 2017. His candidature was approved by the Supreme Court Collegium on April 6, 2018. Subsequently, in January 2019, and again in March 2021, the Supreme Court Collegium reiterated its decision.

Conventionally, the government is bound to accept the recommendation of the Collegium if the decision has been reiterated.

Amid Gyanvapi row, plea for puja in another Kashi mosque

Even as the Gyanvapi case is being heard by the Varanasi district court, a petition for seeking permission for performing puja in another structure in the city was filed on Tuesday with petitioners asking for worship at Bindu Madhav temple inside Beni Madhav-ka-Dharahara, alleging that it was destroyed by Mughal emperor Aurangzeb and converted into a mosque. The structure is an ASI-protected monument.

The court of civil judge (junior division) Akash Vermahas accepted “our petition by allotting case no. 225/2022 and fixed July 4 as the next date for hearing in this case”, said Raja Anand Jyoti Singh, the lawyer of petitioners Atul Kul, Rahul Mishra, Rajendra Prasad, Shyamji Singh and Ramesh Yadav.
