Uddhav Thackeray receives PM Modi in Mumbai after April no-show

Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray received Prime Minister Narendra at INS Shikra, the naval heliport in Colaba. Earlier this year, Uddhav Thackeray had skipped an event in Mumbai where PM Modi was conferred with the first Lata Mangeshkar award.

PM Modi is on a visit to Maharashtra to lay the foundation stone for the Saint Tukaram Maharaj Temple in Dehu, Pune, as well as the Jal Bhushan Building and Gallery of Revolutionaries at Mumbai's Raj Bhawan.

PM Modi will also attend the Mumbai Samachar's Dwishatabdi Mahotsav at Bandra Kurla Complex before concluding his visit.

Court rejects Rahul Gandhi's transfer plea in RSS suit

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s application to seek the transfer of a defamation suit filed against him by Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) volunteers was turned down by the principal district judge of Thane.

The matter pertains to linking of RSS by Rahul Gandhi with Gauri Lankesh’s murder, Wherein RSS volunteer Vivek Champanerkar had filed a civil defamation suit contending that the RSS is a social organisation and is being defamed by the comments made by Rahul Gandhi and the general secretary of the Communist Party of India Sitaram Yechury. Champanerkar’s counsel Aditya Mishra said that the order was passed on December 6, 2021, but it was uploaded on Tuesday.

Name not on list, PM's security asks Aaditya Thackeray to get off father Uddhav's car

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's security on Tuesday asked Maharashra minister Aaditya Thackeray to get out of Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray's car.

According to sources, the Special Protection Group (SPG) claimed that Aaditya's name was not on the list of VIPs scheduled to receive PM Modi in Mumbai.

The prime minister and the chief minister will drive to the Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), where they will attend the second event together.

PM Modi lauds BJP's thumping victory in Kabri Council polls in Assam

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday hailed the BJP's thumping victory in Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council elections and assured the people that the party would keep working for Assam's progress.

"Historic results in Karbi Anglong! I thank the people for their continuous faith in BJP and assure them that we will keep working for Assam's progress," Modi tweeted.

"The efforts of BJP karyakartas (workers) have been outstanding. Kudos to them," he said on Twitter and tagged Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Saram's tweet.

Sarma said, "We bow before the people of Karbi Anglong for giving BJP a historic mandate in KAAC polls the second time in a row."

IIT Madras professor wins International Prize for Water

Prof. Thalappil Pradeep of the Indian Institute of Technology Madras has been named the 10th laureate of the coveted 'Prince Sultan Bin Abdulaziz International Prize for Water' (PSIPW). He was chosen for the Award in the category of 'Creativity Prize,' which is presented for a 'breakthrough discovery' in any discipline involving water.

Prof. T. Pradeep's research group created ecologically friendly 'water positive' nanoscale materials for the removal of arsenic from drinking water that is inexpensive, long-lasting, and quick. Prof. Pradeep has received numerous awards, including the Padma Shri and the Nikkei Asia Prize, and his inventions have provided clean water to over 1.2 million people.

Prince Sultan Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud of Saudi Arabia founded the bi-annual international scientific prize on October 21, 2002. The prize includes a gold medallion, a trophy, and a certificate, as well as a financial component of US$ 2,66,000 (about Rs. 2 crores).
