Centre targets only Cong and not BJP? asks Karnataka CM on Dhiraj Sahu I-T raids

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Sunday accused the Centre of targeting only the Congress and not the BJP, in the wake of seizure of unaccounted cash amounting to over Rs 200 crore from premises allegedly linked to Jharkhand Congress MP Dhiraj Prasad Sahu.

He was reacting to the recent Income Tax raids on the entities linked to Rajya Sabha MP Dhiraj Sahu in Jharkhand and Odisha.

"They (BJP led central government) are only targeting Congress. Let them raid BJP leaders as well. Only then will it be known how much (ill-gotten wealth) they have," Siddaramaiah told reporters.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi continued to remain a global frontrunner in global leadership approval, boasting an impressive 76 percent rating, as revealed by the latest survey conducted by Morning Consult.

As per the survey's 'Global Leader Approval Rating Tracker', within India, 76 percent of respondents express approval for PM Modi's leadership, while 18 percent hold a contrary opinion, and six percent abstain from providing feedback.

This commanding approval rating placed Prime Minister Modi ahead of other world leaders, who are trailing behind by a huge margin.

UP Cop Mistakenly Shoots Woman In Head Inside Police Station; SI Suspended

A police sub-inspector mistakenly shot a woman in the head inside a police station in Uttar Pradesh’s Aligarh on Friday.  The victim, who was visiting the police station for a query related to her passport, is now in a critical condition.

The woman, Ishrat, was immediately rushed to a hospital after the incident while the accused Inspector Manoj Sharma was suspended. A criminal case has also been registered against him.

‘Rs 200 crore recovered’ in I-T raids at Congress MP from Jharkhand; Modi says ‘every penny will be returned’

Income Tax raids continued on Friday in West Bengal, Jharkhand and Odisha at business premises allegedly linked to Congress Rajya Sabha MP from Jharkhand Dheeraj Sahu. Highlighting the raids, Prime Minister Narendra Modi posted a newspaper clipping with photos of notes allegedly worth Rs 200 crore, recovered from Bolangir district in Odisha at one of Sahu’s business premises.

Taking a dig at Congress leaders, Modi wrote: “The countrymen should look at the pile of these notes and then listen to the honest 'speeches' of their leaders… Whatever has been looted from the public, every penny will have to be returned, this is Modi's guarantee.”

Don't preach, SC says after Calcutta HC judges' needless remark

Strongly disapproving sweeping observations made by Calcutta high court that adolescent girls must control their sexual urges instead of giving in to two minutes of pleasure while deciding a criminal appeal, the Supreme Court took suo motu cognisance of the controversial order and said judges are to decide the case on the basis of law and facts, and not to preach during judicial proceedings.

A bench of Justices Abhay S Oka and Pankaj Mithal said that the HC's observation was uncalled for and also questioned the validity of its order for acquitting accused who was booked under IPC and Pocso Act as no reason was given by the high court for acquittal
