Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Trust has yet to confirm about the selected Ram Lalla idol to be installed in the sanctum sanctorum of the Ram Temple even though one has been approved among the three shortlisted.

Union Minister Prahlad Joshi gave information of the selected idol by posting on social media last night. Out of the three sculptors, the statue made by renowned sculptor Yogiraj Arun of Karnataka has been approved, Joshi’s post said .

Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Trust General Secretary Champat Rai said on Tuesday that he will not speak anything on this matter right now.

Asaduddin Owaisi of the All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) has appealed to the Muslim youths to be watchful of the activities done by the Centre and said that mosques across the country should remain inhabited, prompting sharp reactions from the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Days before the consecration of the Ram temple in Uttar Pradesh's Ayodhya on January 22, Asaduddin Owaisi, with reference to Babri Masjid, said the place where the holy Quran was recited for the past 500 years is not in their hands anymore, news agency ANI reported.

"Young people, I am telling you, we have lost our masjid and you are seeing what is being done there. Don't you have pain in your hearts ?," ANI quoted Owaisi as saying at a programme in Bhavani Nagar on Monday.

A passenger plane and a Japanese coast guard aircraft collided on the runway at Tokyo's Haneda Airport on Tuesday and burst into flames.

Transport Minister Tetsuo Saito confirmed that all 379 occupants of Japan Airlines flight JAL-516 got out safely before the plane was entirely engulfed in flames. The pilot of the coast guard plane also escaped, but five crewmembers died, Saito said.

Local TV video showed a large eruption of fire and smoke from the side of the Japan Airlines plane as it taxied after landing. The area around the wing then caught fire. Footage an hour later showed the plane fully on fire.

Days after the idol of Lord Ram Lalla for 'Pran Pratishtha' (consecration) was finalised by the temple trust in Ayodhya, Union minister Pralhad Joshi on Monday said the idol carved by Karnataka’s renowned sculptor Arun Yogiraj will adore the grand Ram temple.

In a social media post on X, Joshi said, “The selection of the idol for the Prana Pratishtapana of Lord Rama in Ayodhya has been finalized. The idol of Lord Rama, carved by renowned sculptor of our country Yogiraj Arun, will be installed in Ayodhya.”

The Centre on Monday listed Canada-based Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) operative and gangster Satwinder Singh alias Goldy Brar, accused in cases relating to extortion and targeted killings in Punjab and smuggling of high-grade arms, ammunition and explosive materials via drones from across India’s western border for such killings, as a ‘terrorist’ in the Fourth Schedule to the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967 (UAPA).

Goldy is closely associated with gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and also has links with BKI operative Lakhbir Singh alias Landa. They are part of a global terror-criminal syndicate, which Landa handles from Canada. Landa, along with Bishnoi and Brar, has been commissioning and executing the killings of prominent social, religious and political persons and professionals. Hailing from Muktsar Sahib city in Punjab and currently based in Brampton, Canada, Goldy is the 56th individual terrorist to be proscribed under UAPA since it was amended in 2019.
