#J&K: Situation Under Control, Rise In Terror Activities In Rajouri-Poonch, Says Army Chief

Chief of Army Staff General Manoj Pande said on Monday that the situation on the borders in Jammu & Kashmir is under control, but continued infiltration attempts make it clear that terrorist infrastructure still existed on the other side of the border.

In his address at the 76th Army Parade at Thakur Sheodatt Singh Parade Ground in Lucknow, General Pande said that the Indian Army soldiers have discharged their responsibilities in every sphere — be it protecting our borders, counter-terrorism operations or humanitarian and disaster relief operations.”

#Indian Army: Northern Border Stable But 'Not Normal': Army's Northern Command Chief

The northern border is stable but "not normal", a top Army commander said on Sunday, referring to the situation along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the Ladakh region.

Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi, the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Northern Command, said five of the seven friction points in eastern Ladakh, where the Indian Army and the Chinese PLA are locked in a standoff since May 2020, have been resolved and talks are underway for the remaining areas.

"The northern border area is stable but it is not normal or I can say it's sensitive," he told reporters here.

The 54th World Economic Forum is slated to begin on Monday with over 60 heads of state and governments including three Union ministers, three chief ministers along with their ministerial colleagues and over a hundred CEOs from India. 

WEF 2024, being held under the theme of 'Rebuilding Trust' from January 15-19, will also be attended by nearly 100 political and business leaders from India, according to a PTI report.

#Maldives: Pull Out Indian Military Staff By March 15, Says President Mohamed Muizzu

Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu has set a deadline of March 15 for withdrawal of Indian military personnel - who operate two Indian naval choppers and a Dornier aircraft in the archipelago - from his country. The deadline was announced after the first meeting in Male of the India-Maldives core group which was formed after Muizzu's meeting with PM Modi on the margins of COP28 in Dubai.

In a press statement, the Maldives foreign ministry said discussions were held on a wide range of issues of mutual interest, including development cooperation, and both sides expressed willingness to intensify cooperation and agreed to "fast-track" withdrawal of Indian military personnel.

#PM Modi Inaugurates India's Longest Sea Bridge In Maharashtra, 'Atal Setu Shows India's Infrastructural Prowess'

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday inaugurated the Mumbai Trans-Harbour Link (MTHL), now named 'Atal Bihari Vajpayee Sewari-Nhava Sheva Atal Setu', constructed at a cost of over Rs 17,840 crore. PM Modi, after inaugurating the Atal Setu Bridge, said that it ''shows India's infrastructural prowess and march towards being a developed nation.'' "Today is a historic day for Mumbai and Maharashtra, along with the resolve for 'Viksit Bharat'. Today, the nation has received Atal Setu, one of the longest sea bridges in the world. I dedicate Atal Setu to the people," the PM said in his speech.

Atal Setu is the longest bridge in India and also the longest sea bridge in the country. It will provide faster connectivity to Mumbai International Airport and Navi Mumbai International Airport and will also reduce the travel time from Mumbai to Pune, Goa and South India.
