#SecurityBreach: Supreme Court Panel Begins Probe Into PM's Security Breach

 

A committee appointed by the Supreme Court arrived in Ferozepur city on Sunday to investigate the security breach during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Punjab on January 5.

The panel, led by retired Supreme Court justice Indu Malhotra, carried out inspection at Piareana village on the outskirts of Ferozepur, officials said. The panel was accompanied by officers of the National Investigation Agency, Central Reserve Police Force and Chandigarh police, who are part of the probe.

It was the first visit of the committee at the location after the incident. It spent nearly three hours in Ferozepur before leaving for Chandigarh.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday (February 7, 2022) will reply to the debate on the Motion of Thanks to President Ram Nath Kovind's address in the Lok Sabha in the ongoing Budget Session of the Parliament.

The debate on the motion of thanks on the President's address went on for over 12 hours in the lower house.

The Budget Session 2022 of the Parliament started on January 31 with President Ram Nath Kovind's address. The Budget Session will be completed in two parts- the first part of the session is being held from January 31 to February 11 and the second part will take place from March 14 to April 8.

India will more than double the area that is under exploration and production of oil and gas to 0.5 million square kilometer by 2025 and to 1 million sq km by 2030 with a view to raising domestic output and cut reliance on imported fuel, Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said on Friday.

The world’s third-largest energy consumer will continue to rely on hydrocarbons to meet its growing energy needs in the foreseeable future, he said at the World Energy Policy Summit 2022.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will announce his party's Chief Ministerial face for the upcoming Punjab Assembly polls on February 6 in Ludhiana, said party state in-charge, Harish Chaudhary on Friday.

Addressing the media at party headquarters here, Chaudhary said, "Rahul Gandhi will address a virtual rally in Ludhiana on February 6 and during the event, he will announce the CM face.

Chaudhary said that the decision will be taken respecting the sentiments of the Congress workers and the people of Punjab.

#LokAdalats: They Are For Judicial Adjudication In Resolving Disputes, Not Courts, Rules Out Supreme Court

In an important judgment, the Supreme Court has ruled that Lok Adalats are not courts as they do not resort to judicial adjudication in resolving disputes and said that their settlement decrees cannot be cited as a precedent before a court of law to claim similar relief by others who were not party to the compromise before the Lok Adalat.

Noida authority had issued a notification in March 1983 for acquisition of land in villages situated in Tehsil Dadri for planned industrial development. Land owners were given compensation at the rate of Rs 20 per square yard in November 1984. None of the land owners questioned the rate of compensation and all accepted the amount due to them.
