#J&K Bills To Provide Justice To Those Deprived For 70 Years: Amit Shah in Lok Sabha

Union home minister Amit Shah on Wednesday pointed out "two big mistakes" committed by late former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru due to which Jammu & Kashmir "had to suffer" for many years.

Shah was responding to discussion on J&K Reservation Amendment Bill and J&K Reorganisation Amendment Bill in the lower house. The bills were later passed by the Lok Sabha.

"Two mistakes happened due to the decision of (former PM) Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru after which Kashmir had to suffer for many years. The first was to declare a ceasefire when our Army was winning. If there had been a ceasefire after three days, PoK would have been a part of India today... The second was to take our internal issue to the UN," Shah said.

#INDIA Bloc Puts Off December 6 Meet As Three Key Leaders Pull Out

The meeting of the opposition INDIA bloc scheduled for December 6 has been put off for later this month, after three key leaders conveyed their inability to attend.

While Bihar CM Nitish Kumar is unwell, TMC chief Mamata Banerjee said she was busy with a family wedding, and TN CM MK Stalin conveyed his pre-occupation with floods in the state, sources quoted them as having told Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge. However, with SP chief Akhilesh Yadav issuing caustic statements and being unable to come for the meeting, the postponement is seen as forced by allies' bid to get back at Congress for its "unilateralism", after its rout in the polls.
