An earthquake killed over 120 people in a mountainous area in northwestern China, officials said on Tuesday. The magnitude 6.2 earthquake left more than 500 people injured and heavily damaged houses and roads, leading to power cuts in several regions.

Emergency authorities in Gansu province issued an appeal for 300 additional workers to look through all the collapsed buildings. As per Chinese state-owned media, officials in neighbouring Qinghai reported 20 people missing in a landslide.

#HC Adjourns Hearing On Commissioner For Mathura Idgah Survey

The Allahabad High Court on Monday adjourned the hearing on the appointment of court commissioner for Shri Krishna Janambhoomi and Shahi Idgah Masjid dispute case.

An application was filed in the court on behalf of Sunni Waqf Board saying it has filed a special petition against the order of appointment of the court commissioner. The petition is to be heard on January 9.

In response, the Hindu side pointed out that the Supreme Court has not banned the appointment of a court commissioner.

#Court orders CBI to look into alleged over-invoicing by Adani, Essar Groups

The Delhi High Court on Tuesday directed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) to look into the allegations of over-invoicing of coal imports and equipment by several companies, including Adani Group and Essar Group. The court asked the central agencies to take action in accordance with the law.

"This court finds it appropriate to direct the respondents to meticulously and expeditiously look into the allegations of the petitioners to unearth actual factual position and take appropriate actions against the erring companies, if any, as per law," the High Court bench ordered.

#Mallikarjun Kharge Calls Out 'Opposition-less' Parliament, With 47 MPs Suspended

The Narendra Modi government has thrown democratic norms into the "dustbin" by suspending 47 members of Parliament for remainder of the Winter Session over the last few days, Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge said on Monday. Reacting to the suspension of 30 Opposition MPs from the Lok Sabha for showing placards demanding home minister Amit Shah's statement on the security breach, Kharge said the Central government can now "bulldoze" crucial laws without the Opposition's scrutiny and dissent.

"First, intruders attacked Parliament. Then Modi Govt attacked Parliament & Democracy. All Democratic norms are being thrown into the dustbin by an autocratic Modi Govt by suspending 47 MPs," he wrote on X.

#Parliament Security Breach: Over 90 Opposition MPs Suspended So Far For Causing Ruckus

In one of the largest mass suspensions till date, as many as 33 members from Lok Sabha and 45 from Rajya Sabha were suspended on Monday for disrupting proceedings and causing uproar in Parliament over last week's security breach incident.

Of the nearly 80 MPs against whom action was taken on Monday, 64 have been suspended for the remainder of the winter session which will conclude on December 22.

The remaining have been suspended pending a report of the Privileges Committee.
