Russia has extended its support for India’s bid to get permanent membership in the United
Nations Security Council (UNSC) and also commended New Delhi for adeptly managing
contentious issues during the G20 Summit, terming it a “true triumph” of Indian foreign policy.
The UNSC currently comprises five permanent members and ten non-permanent members. India
has persistently advocated for permanent membership in the UNSC, emphasising the need for
United Nations reform to align with the evolving global landscape.

On the event marking the commissioning of INS Imphal, defence minister Rajnath Singh vowed
to ferret out the perpetrators of the attacks on merchant navy ships MV Chem Pluto and MV Sai
Baba even from the "depths of the seas" and take tough action against them. Singh emphasized
India's commitment to maritime security and its role as a net security provider in the Indian
Ocean Region.

On Tuesday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced that thirty nations had shown
interest in forging collaboration ties with the BRICS alliance.
Before the group’s next summit, which is scheduled to take place in the Russian city of Kazan in
October of next year, Lavrov stated that Moscow anticipates a wide range of options to be
established.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi discussed the West Asia situation in a phone conversation with Saudi Crown Prince and PM Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud while reviewing progress in bilateral ties. According to the Indian government, they shared deep concerns over terrorism, violence, and the loss of civilian lives.

The government said Modi reiterated India’s long-standing and principled position on the Israel-Palestine issue and called for continued humanitarian aid for the affected population.

The government has issued an advisory to all platforms to comply with IT rules amid growing concerns around deepfakes and misinformation powered by AI, according to an official release.

The advisory mandates that intermediaries (digital and social media platforms) communicate prohibited content specified under IT Rules clearly and precisely to users.

"The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MEITY) has issued an advisory to all intermediaries, ensuring compliance with the existing IT rules," it said.
