"Hello, Mumbai": Apple CEO Can't Keep Calm As Mumbai Store Opens Today

Apple's first official India store is opening in Mumbai today, followed by a Delhi opening two days later and there is breathless excitement among the fans.

The launch comes as Apple celebrates more than 25 years in India.

"Hello, Mumbai! We can't wait to welcome our customers to the new Apple BKC tomorrow," posted CEO Tim Cook posted a picture of himself visibly overjoyed Apple employees.

The two-storey Mumbai store is inspired by the iconic kaali-peeli taxis which have been a regular feature on the city road.

Uber India and South Asia President Prabhjeet Singh told PTI that it had recorded nearly 100 percent year-on-year growth in Airport trips in January and February this year, and one in every 10 trips on the Uber platform is an airport trip.

"We have signed an MOU with the Airports Authority of India (AAI) to provide Uber's service at multiple AAI airports. This is something that we believe is to truly participate in one of the fastest-growing segments of the Indian economy, which is the aviation sector. We see that we are an incredibly critical part of that growth," Singh said.

Air India to save 15,000 tonnes of jet fuel in 3 years via ‘TaxiBot’ ops

Air India on Thursday signed an agreement with KSU Aviation to launch ‘TaxiBot’ operations at Delhi and Bengaluru airports for its Airbus A320 family of aircraft, seeking to save nearly 15,000 tonnes of jet fuel over three years.

A ‘TaxiBot’ is a semi-robotic equipment, which once attached to the aircraft, acts as an extension of the aircraft’s nose landing gear.

It is used to tow aircraft from the airport terminal gate to the taxi-out point and to tow aircraft from the terminal gate after landing (taxi-in phase) without utilising the aircraft’s engines, thus saving jet fuel.

4 firms submit bids for design, construction of Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train's Shilphata-Zaroli corridor

Four companies, including Larsen & Toubro, have submitted bids for the design and construction of civil and building works of the 135-km-long alignment between Shilphata and Zaroli under package C-3 of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad high-speed rail line, the firm overseeing the bullet train project has said.

In a statement, National High-Speed Railway Corporation Ltd (NHSRCL) said it has received four bids from M/s Larsen & Toubro Ltd, NCC-J Kumar (JV), M/s Afcons -KPTL Consortium and M/s Dineshchandra-DMRC JV for package C-3 that also includes Thane, Virar and Boisar HSR (high-speed rail) stations.

Central Railway to operate special traffic and power blocks on Tuesday/Thursday

The Central Railway will operate Special Traffic and Power block for on 12th April from 10.50 am to 1.50 pm on ghat section and upto Karjat. The blocks will be carried out for erection of OHE structures and load transfer at Karjat Station in connection with Karjat yard modification.

Similarly on 14th April, the CR will also operate Special Traffic and Power block for erection of OHE structures and load transfer at Karjat Station from 1.45 pm to 3.45 pm on ghat section and upto Karjat.
