Google lays off hundreds of employees, fires Fitbit co-founders amid cost cutting

Google announced on Wednesday that it is laying off hundreds of employees across multiple departments, including engineering and hardware. The Alphabet-owned company has also fired Fitbit co-founders James Park and Eric Friedman, reported Reuters.

Google is implementing job cuts across several teams as a cost cutting measure for the company. In the recent layoffs, the Voice Assistant team and hardware team for Pixel, Nest and Fitbit will be the most impacted.

2 eSIM firms taken off Google, Apple app stores in India

Google and Apple have removed Airalo and Holafly, two applications that sell international eSIMs, from their Indian app stores following a directive from the department of telecommunications DoT on January 4.

DoT issued the order because the two apps sold international eSIMs without proper approvals. It has also asked internet service providers to block access to the two services’ websites.

FAA orders suspension of all Boeing Max

IndiGo Fixes Rates Per Seat, Front Row To Cost Up To ₹ 2,000

Passengers will have to pay ₹ 2,000 for front row seats having more leg room in budget operator IndiGo, with the airline hiking the charges.

The new rates have been updated on the budget carrier's website.

For an A321 aircraft with 222 seats, selecting a window or aisle seat on the front row will cost ₹ 2,000. It is ₹ 1,500 for the aisle seat in the same row. For the second and third row, all seat types have a flat rate of ₹ 400.

Reliance Industries committed to make new investments in TN: Mukesh Ambani

Reliance Industries has committed to make new investments in Tamil Nadu in the renewable energy space, said its Chairman and Managing Director, Mukesh D Ambani on Sunday.

Reliance Industries would also inaugurate its state-of-the-art data centre that has been set up in partnership with Canada-based Brookfield Asset Management and US-based Digital Reality.

In his virtual address at the inaugural function of the Global Investors Meet 2024 organised by the Tamil Nadu government, Ambani said, “Reliance has proudly partnered in Tamil Nadu’s growth over the years.”
