OpenAI Vs Baidu: Chinese Giant Claims To Beat ChatGPT In Some Metrics

Baidu Inc, China's leading search engine provider, said the latest iteration of its ChatGPT-style service had surpassed the widely popular Microsoft-backed OpenAI chatbot on multiple key metrics. Baidu said in a statement on Tuesday that Ernie 3.5, the latest version of its Ernie AI model, had surpassed "ChatGPT in comprehensive ability scores" and outperformed "GPT-4 in several Chinese capabilities".

The Beijing-based company cited a test that the state newspaper China Science Daily ran using datasets including AGIEval and C-Eval, two benchmarks used to evaluate the performance of artificial intelligence (AI) models. OpenAI did not immediately reply to an email seeking comment outside of usual business hours.

Deloitte, three board members quit edtech giant Byju’s

Global giant Deloitte quit as the auditor of Byju’s and three board members resigned from the most valuable Indian startup on Thursday, sending a shockwave through the industry, a year after the Indian firm’s tardy financial reporting attracted global scrutiny.

Byju’s, valued at $22 billion, in a statement termed Deloitte’s resignation as “planned transition” and refuted resignations of its board members. Deloitte, which fanned concerns as it submitted its resignation to Byju’s board, was slated to work with the Indian startup until 2025. The startup said it has appointed BDO (MSKA & Associates) as its statutory auditor.

Sensex ends off record high, rises 195 pts; HDFC twins gain 2%, ITC dips

The benchmark S&P BSE Sensex scaled a fresh all-time high of 63,588 on the BSE in the intra-day trade on Wednesday, surpassing its previous high of 63,583 touched on December 1, 2022. Profit booking in M&M, ITC, Axis Bank, IndusInd Bank, Bajaj Finance, and Maruti Suzuki, however, dragged it off highs. It, eventually, settled at 63,523, up 195 points or 0.31 per cent. 

The Nifty50, meanwhile, halted its march towards new record high level at 18,875.9, eventually closing at 18,857, up 40 points or 0.21 per cent. 

In the broader market, the BSE MidCap and Smallcap indices ended 0.68 per cent and 0.24 per cent higher, respectively.
