Modi to inaugurate AfDB annual meet in Gandhinagar today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the 52nd Annual Meeting of African Development Bank (AfDB) today at Mahatma Mandir in Gadhinagar Gujarat. The theme of the annual meeting is ‘Transforming Agriculture for wealth creation in Africa’.

President of African Development Bank Akinwumi Adesina said the focus of the meeting will be on achieving sustainable growth with High 5s- strategy- which include agriculture, energy, industrialization, regional connectivity and improved quality of life. This is the first time that African Development Bank is holding its annual meetings in India with a view to bolstering ties.

To save face, Muslim law board for social boycott of those indulging in triple talaq

New Delhi:The All India Muslim Personal Law Board, AIMPLB has told the Supreme Court that it will issue an advisory to Qazis to tell bridegrooms that they will not resort to triple talaq to annul their marriage.
The affidavit filed by the AIMPLB in the Apex Court today said that it has decided to issue an advisory through its website, publications and social media platforms to Qazis regarding triple talaq in the Nikahnama. It said that at the time of execution of Nikahnama, Qazis will tell bridegroom that they would not resort to three divorces in one sitting in case of differences as it was an undesirable practice in Shariat.

Falling 8200 metres, climber from Moradabad dies after scaling Everest

New Delhi:A 27-year-old Indian climber, who went missing on Mount Everest, has died after he fell some 200 metres on his return after conquering the world's tallest peak. 
An official said today that this is the fifth fatality on the mountain this season. Dinesh Bhattarai, Director General of Department of Tourism said, Ravi Kumar from Uttar Pradesh's Moradabad fell from the 8,200 metre altitude, which is popularly known as Balcony, and died.

Suicide bomber leaves at least 19 deadat Manchester music concert

New Delhi:At least 19 people were killed and about 50 injured in a suspected terror attack at Manchester Arena.The blast happened at about 22:35 BST on Monday following a pop concert by the US singer Ariana Grande, said a BBC Report.
The cause is unknown but PM Theresa May said her thoughts were with those affected by "what is being treated by the police as an appalling terrorist attack". British Transport Police said the explosion was in the arena's foyer.

Hi-tech Mumbai-Goa train, Tejas Express, flagged off from Shivaji Terminus

Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu flagged off India’s newest luxury train – the Tejas Express from Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus this afternoon. Its first trip is a nine hour-long journey to Karmali station in Goa.
After flagging off India’s first Tejas Express, Prabhu said, the train will bring in a new era of travel experience with state-of-art on board facilities and enhanced passenger comfort.
