Modi in Spain, trade, economic ties on agenda

Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Madrid tonight on a two-day visit to Spain on the second leg of his four-nation European tour. Modi was received by Minister of Foreign Affairs of Spain Alfonso Dastis at air base Torrejon de Androz. 
After landing, Prime Minister tweeted in Spanish and English saying marking the start of a very important visit aimed at improving economic and cultural relations with Spain. Discussions on improving trade and economic relations between New Delhi and Madrid will take place during the meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Spanish leadership.

SC refuses stay on conviction of IPS officer in Bilkis Bano case

The Supreme Court on Tuesday refused to grant stay on the conviction of an IPS officer in the 2002 Bilkis Bano case. A vacation Bench of Justices AK Sikri and Deepak Gupta said that there was no urgency for hearing the matter as the convicted officer has already undergone the sentence. 
The apex court, however, listed the matter for hearing in the second week of July and observed that the fine is Rs 15,000 only.

BJP veterans, Joshi, Advani, Uma Bharti et al get bail in Ayodhya demolition case

Senior BJP and VHP leaders, including LK Advani, Dr Murli Manohar Joshi, Union Minister Uma Bharti, MP Vinay Katiyar, Vishnu Hari Dalmiya and Sadhvi Ritambhara have been granted bail by Special CBI court in Lucknow in the Ayodhya disputed structure demolition case. 
They appeared today before the court for framing of the charge of criminal conspiracy in the case.
Special CBI court judge SK Yadav is hearing two cases relating to the 1992 demolition following the Supreme Court order restoring the serious criminal conspiracy offences against BJP and VHP leaders.

Tit-for-tat: Indian Army kills two Pakistani troopers

The Indian Army on Monday evening killed two Pakistani troopers in a counter offensive strike on the LoC in Kashmir’s Uri sector to foil a Border Action Team (BAT) attack from the Pakistani side. According to Defence sources in Srinagar, “Special forces of the army targetted the Pakistani troopers along the Uri LoC (Line of Control) yesterday.”
“Inflicting casualties on the Pakistani troopers, a convoy of three vehicles was attacked by our troopers in which two Pakistani troopers were killed and four injured,” the source said.

Moldova expels five Russian diplomats

Foreign Ministry of Moldova has expelled five Russian diplomats, ordering Moscow to remove them in a move that outraged the country's pro-Russian President. 
The note about the decision was given to the Russian ambassador to Moldova Farit Mukhametshin yesterday afternoon, according to Artur Sarbu, Moldova's foreign ministry aide, who did not explain the reason behind the expulsion. The unnamed diplomats were given 72 hours to leave the country. Mukhametshin confirmed that he received the note, but declined to elaborate.
