Researchers find cheaper, quicker, pollution-free bio-fuel manufacturing process

Researchers at IIT Kharagpur have developed a new technology which will change the way bio-fuel is manufactured by making the process cheaper, quicker and pollution-free. 
Professor of Department of Agricultural and Food Engineering, Dr Rintu Banerjee today said, the technique will ensure relatively quicker production of bio-fuel and the process is completely green.

Indian Navy rescues 33 Bangladeshis, Mizoram too in grip of Cyclone Mora

The Indian Navy has rescued 33 Bangladesh nationals in a major operation in the country hit hard by Cyclone Mora. Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Gopal Baglay in a tweet said INS Sumitra has rescued 33 people including children, women and elders. 
The search and rescue operations by the Indian Navy are in full swing following destruction caused by Mora. At least six persons were killed as Cyclone Mora made landfall in Bangladesh yesterday, causing widespread destruction and rendering millions of people homeless.

HC stays Centre's notification on sale, purchase of cattle at animal markets

The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court granted a four-week stay on the Centre’s notification banning sale and purchase of cattle for slaughter at animal markets. A division Bench comprising Justices MV Muralidharan and CV Karthikeyan issued the interim order on separate petitions filed by S Selvagomathi, a resident of Madurai, and Asik Elahi Baba, who hails from Kalimangalam near Madurai.

Four cops injured as Sopore police station in J-K attacked

Sopore police station was attacked on Wednesday and four policemen were injured in the incident, according to multiple TV reports. Multiple TV channels reported that a blast took place outside the Sopore police station in Jammu and Kashmir. 
Meanwhile, terrorists hurled a grenade at a police party near J&K Bank in Sopore. It was the second incident of this type in last 24 hours. Earlier, a man was injured on an explosion in Pulwama district.

‘Govt does not decide what people should eat’

Amid a raging nationwide debate over consumption of beef and cattle trade, Union minister Arjun Ram Meghwal has said the government does not decide what people should eat and what they should not. 
His remark came today in response to a question on beef fests and slaughtering of a calf in Kerala by Congress workers to protest the Centre's decision of banning sale of cattle in animal markets for slaughter.
Meghwal highlighted the works undertaken by the NDA government in the last three years. He said during the period, the government had taken initiatives and decisions to bring transparency, eradicate corruption and ensure good governance.
