Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday chaired a high-level meeting to assess the progress of India's Gaganyaan Mission and to outline the future of India's space exploration endeavours and said the country should now aim for new and ambitious goals, including setting up 'Bharatiya Antariksha Station' by 2035 and sending first Indian to the Moon by 2040.

During the meeting, the Department of Space presented a comprehensive overview of the Gaganyaan Mission, including various technologies developed so far such as human-rated launch vehicles and system qualification. It was noted that around 20 major tests, including three "uncrewed missions" of the Human Rated Launch Vehicle (HLVM3) are planned. The first demonstration flight of the Crew Escape System Test Vehicle is scheduled for October 21. The meeting evaluated the mission's readiness, affirming its launch in 2025.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, during a Security Assessment at the Kirya in Tel Aviv, addressed the citizens of Israel and commended the dedication of the forces working on the Sabbath far from home. He emphasized the collective understanding that they are fiercely defending their homeland. Netanyahu praised soldiers, police officers, security forces, health personnel, and citizens for their unity and volunteerism, acknowledging their heroism during these challenging times. He noted that their acts of bravery will be remembered as a vital part of Israel's history, especially in the face of recent tragic events. 

As the Israel-Hamas war entered its ninth day amid intense fighting between the Israeli military and Hamas militants, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday conducted an expanded emergency cabinet meeting and said “Israel will demolish Hamas.”

The White House on Sunday announced that Israel confirmed turning the water supply back on in southern Gaza, which is currently tackling with water shortage.

External affairs minister S Jaishankar, referring to violence and intimidation against Indian diplomats and missions, said the ongoing situation in Canada should not be regarded as normal, and made it clear that India does not require lessons from others on the concept of freedom of speech.

In July, a group of pro-Khalistan supporters allegedly attempted to set fire to the Consulate in San Francisco. There was no major damage nor any injuries and police were carrying out an investigation into the incident.

The Canadian intelligence establishment is yet to identify any Indian citizen potentially linked to the killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar flying in or out of Canada, either directly or indirectly, before or after the killing of the wanted Khalistani terrorist in June.

Sources confirmed the investigators, belonging to the local police in Surrey, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) and the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS), had extensively tried to ascertain if Indian-origin agents travelled in or out of the country around June 18. The exercise didn't yield anything, sources said.
