Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday said people were being arrested in the country "for what they think". Speaking at an interaction with students of Bharathidasan Government College for Women in Puducherry, Gandhi reacted to climate activist Disha Ravi's arrest and said that the nation's character was being destroyed as people were not being allowed to talk.

"Maybe I'll get arrested for saying this... if you're shutting up the nation and frightening people and not allowing them to talk, you're destroying the nation's character," he said.

The 22-year-old Ravi was arrested by the cyber crime unit of Delhi Police for allegedly sharing on social media a toolkit related to the farmers’ protests against the Centre’s contentious agricultural laws.

A section of media reported about the "toolkit" document shared by Greta Thunberg, the Swedish climate activist and Nobel Peace Prize nominee, who extended her support to the farmers' agitation.

In the "toolkit" document, Thunberg called RSS-BJP a "fascistic ruling party". The document is titled - "#ASKINDIAWHY Global Farmers Strike First Wave Will you be part of the largest protest in Human History?" 

The five main points that the document mentioned were:

1) Participate in (or organise an) on-ground protest: Share solidarity Photo/Video Message by email preferably by January  25 (solidarity messages for farmers at Delhi’s border).

#FarmerProtest: Toolkit Detailing Digital Support Created by Trio Disha, Nikita, Shantanu, Claim Delhi Police

Arrested activist Disha Ravi made the toolkit detailing digital support for the farmers’ protest against the three farm laws in collaboration with Nikita Jacob and Shantanu, Delhi Police said on Monday and claimed that Ravi revealed the information while she was questioned in Bengaluru after her arrest. Prem Nath, the joint commissioner of police of the cyber cell, said during a press briefing that Jacob, a lawyer, Shantanu and Ravi had created the document. “The email account created by Shantanu is the owner of this doc and all others are its editors,” He added.

He also said that team reached Mumbai and conducted searches at Jacob’s residence on February 11. Information from Jacob’s phone shows that she and Ravi had formed the toolkit and sent it to Swedish activist Greta Thunberg on Telegram app. “The aim was to spread misinformation and disaffection. They also sought people's participation in January 26 violence,” he added.

#FarmProtests: BJP Hardens Stand, Haryana to Bring Punitive Law against Farmers

New Delhi: Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Saturday said that a law to claim recovery of damages to public property from protesters will be brought in soon. He made the statement after a meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, saying he had discussed the farmers' protest among other issues with Shah.

The Haryana CM had earlier said some people were agitating just for the "sake of protest" against the Centre's farm laws, which reflected their "vested political intent". But he added that the Centre will be ready for any amendment in the laws, if it was required. Yes
