#AryanKhan: Bombay HC order obliterates drug case

New Delhi: Granting bail to Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan and two others, Arbaaz Merchant and Munmum Dhamecha, in the cruise drugs case, the Bombay High Court in its detailed order said there was no conspiracy between them to commit drug-related offences. The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) had arrested the trio for offences committed under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. While the court granted bail on October 28, a detailed order was made available on Saturday.

#FarmLaws: Congress To Take Out a 'Kisan Vijay Rally' Across The Country

To "celebrate" the Centre's decision to repeal all three Union farm laws, the Congress has decided to observe 'Kisan Vijay Diwas' today (Saturday, November 20) as well as organize a 'victory rally' across the country. This is looked upon as many the party's attempt to shift its political strategy on the issue of farmers' protest.

In an official statement, the party welcomed the decision of the BJP-led central government said termed it is as a "victory of the farmers.""The victory is dedicated to all the Annadatas of our country, in recognition of their consistent and spirited fight against the flawed decisions of the tyrannical government and will be observed by the Indian National Congress as 'Kisan Vijay Diwas', on November 20, 2021," read the statement. 

After the rollback of petrol and diesel prices across the country, the repeal of farm laws is the second major decision that the Central government has taken after a mass protest by general public.

#Insensitivity: Supreme Court Pulls Up Gujarat Government Over Covid-19 Compensation

  

The Supreme Court on Thursday pulled up the Gujarat government for being “insensitive to the suffering” of families of the those who died from Covid-19, making them run around for the compensation of ₹50,000.

The court was considering an application filed by a Gujarat-based lawyer Amit Panchal against an October 29 notification by the Gujarat Health and Family Welfare department requiring beneficiaries to move a representation before a committee that will issue documents certifying Covid-19 deaths.

The bench of justices MR Shah and BV Nagarathna said, “After going through the October 29 order constituting the ‘Covid-19 Death Ascertaining Committee,it appears an attempt is being made to overreach our order.” The bench was referring to its October 4 judgment.

#DetentionLaw: Supreme Court Issues Notice To Centre on Plea Against UAPA

The Supreme Court on Wednesday issued notice to the Centre on a petition filed by some former IAS, IPS and IFS officers challenging the constitutional validity of certain provisions of the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act, 1967 (UAPA).

A bench headed by Chief Justice of India N V Ramana issued notice on the plea by former IAS officials Harsh Mander, Wajahat Habibullah, Amitabha Pande, Kamal Kant Jaiswal, Hindal Hyder Tyabji, M G Devasahayam, Pradeep Kumar Deb, Baldev Bhushan Mahajan, ex-IPS officer Julio Francis Ribeiro, Ish Kumar and former IFS officer Ashok Kumar Sharma.

#AirPollution: Schools, Colleges Shut in Delhi-NCR, Construction Work Halted Till November 21

As the level of pollution in Delhi and NCR continues to be at an alarming level, the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) in the National Capital Region and adjoining areas on Tuesday (November 16, 2021) late night ordered the closure of all schools, colleges and educational institutions till further notice.

To control the severity of pollution, the CAQM also ordered to halt all construction activities in NCR till November 21 except projects related to Railways, Metro, Airport and National Security/Defence.

It also banned the entry of all trucks in the national capital till November 21, except those carting essential commodities.
