Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn and Siddharth Roy Kapur will produce an upcoming comedy-drama called Gobar. The actor made the announcement on Friday.

The Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior star took to Twitter and shared a picture featuring him, Siddharth and filmmaker Sabal Shekhawat as he announced the team of his upcoming venture.

The forthcoming film will be directed by ad filmmaker Sabal Shekhawat. It has been written by Sabal and Sambhit Mishra.

Filmmaker Hansal Mehta cites situation in Gujarat much worse than being reported

Filmmaker Hansal Mehta on Wednesday took to social media to mourn the demise of a close cousin owing to Covid. Mehta's cousin was a resident of Ahmedabad. The filmmaker claimed the Covid situation in Gujarat is actually worse than what is being reported by the media.

"Lost a very close cousin in Ahmedabad to Covid-19. His wife is also critical. The situation in Gujarat is terrible. Much, much worse than is being reported," Mehta tweeted.

Actor Vira Sathidar dies of Coronavirus at 62

Actor Vira Sathidar, best known for his performance in the National Award-winning film Court, died due to COVID-19 related complications on Tuesday in Nagpur, reported news agency PTI. Vira Sathidar, who was also an activist, was undergoing treatment at AIIMS Nagpur after he was diagnosed with the coronavirus. He died early morning on Tuesday due to sudden cardiorespiratory arrest in COVID-19 pneumonia with respiratory failure, said a hospital official, reported PTI. Filmmaker Chaitanya Tamhane, who worked with Sathidar in the 2014 film Court, said the actor was on life support after he was admitted to the hospital last week. Chaitanya Tamhane told PTI: "He had COVID-19 and was put on ventilator. It's an extremely unfortunate news. It is yet to sink in."

Deepika Padukone resigns as MAMI Chairperson

Actress Deepika Padukone took over the role of the Chairperson of Mumbai Academy of the Moving Image (MAMI) in 2019. However, on Monday, Deepika took to Instagram to announce that she has decided to step down from the post.

In a statement on Instagram stories, Deepika wrote, “Being on the board of MAMI and serving as chairperson has been a deeply enriching experience. As an artist, it was invigorating to bring together cinema and talent from all over the world to Mumbai, my second home,” she wrote.

“I have come to realise however, that with my current slate of work, I will be unable to give MAMI the undivided focus and attention it requires. I depart knowing that MAMI is in the best hands possible and that my bond and connection with the academy is one that will last a lifetime,” she concluded the statement.
