Amitabh Bachchan tries to shut out 'everyday abuse', lists down all his charitable efforts, says it's 'embarrassing'

Actor Amitabh Bachchan, in his blog, addressed the slew of negative comments that celebrities are being subjected to, with regard to their charitable efforts during the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic in India. He revealed that he has contributed ₹2 crore towards a Covid-19 facility in Delhi.    

He wrote that he finds it 'embarrassing' to speak publicly about his charitable efforts, and that 'every day abuse and the filth of distasteful comments' has been something that he and his family have been facing since 'time immemorial'.

Amitabh then listed his charitable efforts. "Over a 1500 farmers bank loans paid off by my personal fund and prevented them from suicide," he wrote. Those who could not be present for the formalities were transported by train, 'all at (his) expense'.

Actor Janhvi Kapoor shares precious throwback pictures of Sridevi on Mother's Day

On Mother’s Day, actress Janhvi Kapoor remembered her mother, legendary actress Sridevi, on Instagram. Apart from sharing pictures with her mother, she also shared Sridevi’s childhood picture with her grandparents.

Janhvi took to Instagram to share a series of pictures, which also featured her father Boney Kapoor as well as Sridevi’s parents, veteran South actors Vijaykumar and Manjula Vijaykumar. Janhvi captioned the post, “My Mumma.”

Janhvi’s sister Khushi also shared a series of childhood photos featuring the late actress. She wrote, “Happy Mother’s Day to the best.”

Kolkata Police register case against Kangana Ranaut after TMC complaint, actress reacts

Trinamool Congress spokesperson Riju Datta has lodged a complaint against Kangana Ranaut for allegedly instigating communal disharmony. Riju Datta filed the complaint at Kolkata's Ultadanga police station and accused Kangana of giving a hate speech.

Riju alleged that Kangana gave a hate speech on her social media account and tried to incite communal disharmony. Riju also accused the actress of uploading distorted pictures of the Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. The Kolkata Police has registered a case against the actress under sections 153A, 504,505 IPC and 43 and 66 IT Act.

On May 3, a lawyer had also filed a complaint against Kangana via email. He had shared the links of Kangana's three tweets and stated that the actress has "demeaned, insulted, hurt the sentiments of the people of Bengal."

Chhichhore actress and famous Marathi star Abhilasha Patil dies due to COVID-19

Actor Abhilasha Patil, who has acted in films like "Chhichhore" and "Good Newwz", has died due to COVID-19 complications, her co-actor said. Patil was in her 40s.

She was admitted to a hospital soon after she tested positive for the novel coronavirus and died on May 4. Actor Kushal Koli, who worked with Patil in the show Shree Gurudeva Dutta, said he got to know about her demise through a common friend.

"One of our friends, singer Udesh Umap, who stays in her building, informed me about her demise. She was shooting in Banaras for a project and when she came to Mumbai she was admitted in a private hospital after testing positive for COVID-19. She was kept in ICU and passed away on May 4 in the afternoon around 2.30-3 pm," Koli told PTI.

People assemble outside Actor Sonu Sood's residence seeking help amid Covid-19 crisis

He has played many roles on screen but these days, actor Sonu Sood is playing the role of a saviour for several people facing the brunt of the deadly second wave of coronavirus in the country. One look at his social media handles and you can see how thousands of people are reaching out to him asking for emergency air ambulance services, oxygen cylinders, medicines, ICU beds, ventilators, and even cremation services.

On Wednesday, a video shared by celebrity photographer Viral Bhayani on Instagram, gave a glimpse of how the 47-year-old actor is spending his time these days. The video shows a gathering of a few people, who are maintaining social distance with face masks outside Sonu’s house in Mumbai. The group of people came to meet Sonu to share their grievances and seek help for their family members who have contracted the coronavirus. Sonu can be heard addressing the group and assuring them that if they have any query or requirement they can contact one of his team members or him.
