In what could spell more trouble for Javed Akhtar, a criminal case seeking damages of Rs 100 crore has been initiated while a lawyer has sent a legal notice to the Bollywood lyricist for allegedly making "false and defamatory" remarks against the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).

Advocate and RSS worker Dhrutiman Joshi has approached Kurla magistrate court with a complaint to initiate criminal defamation against Javed Akhtar.

According to Joshi, on September 4, he saw a news programme where Javed Akhtar drew parallels between Taliban and Hindu organisations to "vilify and defame all the organisations working for the Hindu cause."

Actress Kangana Ranaut, known for not holding back her opinions on any matter, has reacted to the new advertisement featuring Alia Bhatt as a bride. Disagreeing with the 'Kanyadaan' reference in the bridal ad, Kangana lashed out at the 'Raazi' actress along with the brand asking them not to mix religion in order to manipulate ther customers. 

Sharing her thoughts in a lengthy post on Instagram, Kangana wrote, "Humble request to all brands ..... don't use religion, minority, majority politics to sell things .... Stop manipulating naive consumers with shrewd divisive concepts and advertising..." She added that women are worshipped in the scriptures and there's no harm in seeing them as 'precious source of existence'.

Bollywood actor Sonu Sood, who has been accused by the Central Bureau of Direct Taxes (CBDT) of evading tax of Rs 20 crore, in an exclusive interview with a news channel said that post the Covid-19 pandemic he has declined offers of Rajya Sabha seats by two separate political parties.

Sood, however, refused to name the parties.

On being asked if he has considered entering into a political space, Sood said, “I have been offered political positions for the past 10 years. Post Covid-19 pandemic I have been offered Rajya Sabha seats twice by two political parties but I declined as I was not ready.”

Earlier on Monday, the 48-year-old actor said that every rupee in his foundation is “awaiting its turn” to be used to reach the needy and save lives in response to CBDT’s allegation of tax evasion.

Mammootty, who recently celebrated his 70th birthday, is busy shooting for Puzhu since August. Directed by debutant Ratheena Sharshad, the film stars Mammootty and Parvathy Thiruvothu in lead roles. On Saturday, September 18, the makers took to Twitter to unveil the first-look poster of the film.

Actress Sherlyn Chopra was one of the witnesses who gave her statement for the 1,500-page supplementary charge sheet in Raj Kundra’s production and distribution of pornographic content case to the Mumbai Police. The cops arrested businessman Raj Kundra and his associates in the porn racket case. Sherlyn had earlier told the cops that Raj and his firm's creative director would hound her to work for the mobile application. Sherlyn's statement was recorded in the Crime Branch's document wherein she said, 'I had hired Arms Prime Pvt Ltd to make the Sherlyn Chopra App. The directors of Arms Prime were Saurabh Kushvah and Raj Kundra.' The actress even claimed that Raj told her that the content on ‘Hotshots’ will be 'much bolder and hot'. She further added that Raj told her to work carefree.
