Designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee junks mangalsutra ad after row

Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra on Sunday issued a 24-hour ultimatum to fashion and jewellery designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee to withdraw the advertisement with "objectionable and obscene" portrayal of mangalsutra or else face statutory action.
Last week, Dabur India Private Limited had withdrawn its Fem cream bleach advertisement, which showed same-sex couple celebrating Karva Chauth and watching each other through a sieve, after Mr Mishra termed the ad as objectionable and warned that legal steps would be taken against it.

The mangalsutra advertisement by Sabyasachi's brand portrayed a woman wearing a low-neckline dress and posing solo and in intimate position with a man. After the designer shared these pictures, it created a controversy as a section of social media users termed it against Hindu culture and obscene.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui quits OTT platforms, blames Bollywood for it

Content is king! That's really what the entire pandemic has taught us. Back when cinema halls were shut due to the social distancing curbs of the Covid-19 crisis across the world, major filmmaking industries who relied on box office numbers, had one hell of a tough time making movies. This was unlike the case of OTT platforms like Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+ Hotstar, and others who actually thrived during the testing times.

People no longer needed to step out of their homes as they binged on movies, TV series, documentaries within the comforts of their homes, without having to pay almost ransom money for popcorn & a glass of Pepsi. One actor that was integral to kickstarting the OTT revolution in India was Nawazuddin Siddiqui, who with his terrific performances in Netflix's Sacred Games, turned people's heads from cinema screens to TVs, laptops, and phones.

Actor Vijay likely to make political foray; Meets his fans who won rural local body polls

The recent visit of the TDP chief and former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu to Delhi is of no consequence to the party at all, says YSR Congress Parliament leader Vijaysai Reddy. Hitting out at TDP, Reddy said, “Naidu had walked out of the NDA alliance and realised that it was a mistake and to mitigate the mistakes of the past he is coming to Delhi to draw the attention of the central leaders. I haven’t seen a more power-hungry and selfish person than Chandrababu Naidu.”

The YSR Congress thinks that even if the TDP and BJP become friends again, it doesn’t matter.

Vijaysai adds, “Even if all of them come together, it does not worry us because we are very much in control and very much in a situation to come to power again in the next election. We have 51 per cent votes to back us.”
