Rajinikanth is welcome to join the Bharatiya Janata Party, but he has to first enter in politics first, said BJP president Amit Shah in response to a query at an India Today event in Delhi.
The Tamil superstar had hinted at a possible entry in politics last week while addressing the media. He, however, did not specify which party he would like to join.
“When he has to enter politics, how can I decide that? From our end, every good person is welcome to join politics,” Shah said. He also denied having a conversation with the superstar.

Shah desisted from commenting on speculation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi meeting Rajinikanth, saying “Thousands of people come to meet Modi ji. Good people working in every sector meet Modi ji and they should meet,” he said.
Meanwhile, security has been beefed around the house of Rajnikanth in the wake of a pro-Tamil group raising a banner of protest against the superstar. The Tamilar Munnetra Padai (TMP) asked him to keep away from taking a plunge in Tamil politics, saying a Kannadiga should not rule Tamil Nadu.
