“Almost around 350 houses have been submerged since Monday in different parts of the state in the flash floods,” said Zodintluanga, state’s urban development and poverty alleviation minister.

He also confirmed the death of eight people saying they were killed in south Marpara and Phairuangkai villages of Lunglei district while six others are still missing.

On the other hand, Public works department officials while talking to Media said that, “74 buildings were submerged and 84 families have been evacuated from the area. Schools were closed in Thenzawl and 6 houses submerged in the area forcing the inhabitants to leave the buildings,”

Meanwhile, reacting over the calamity, Union minister of state for home Kiren Rijiju said, “24×7 MHA Control room is monitoring severe landslides and floods in Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram and other States for necessary help.”
