25 arrested for violence in Saharanpur

Even as yesterday's violence in Saharanpur led to the death of one person police have arrested 25 people and lodged three FIRs at Badgaon police station against several unknown persons. 
Official sources said a financial assistance of Rs 15 lakh is being paid to the family of the victim. Rs 50,000 are being given to those with serious injuries. 

A team of top officers – including Secretary, Home, Mani Prasad Misra and ADG Law and Order Aditya Misra – have been sent to Saharanpur by the state government to maintain law and order. 
Security has also been tightened in the area. Yesterday's violence occurred when some people, who were returning after attending a public meeting of BSP Chief Mayawati, were attacked by a group.
Spokesperson of the state government, Srikant Sharma termed the incident as unfortunate and said that all efforts are being made to control the situation. He has accused the Opposition of exploiting the situation in the district.
