SC refuses early hearing to order SIT probe into Saharanpur violence

New Delhi:The Supreme Court today refused to give an urgent hearing on plea seeking Special Investigation Team, SIT, probe into violence at Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh.
A vacation bench comprising Justices L. NageswaraRao and NavinSinha said there was no urgency and the petition may be heard after the summer break of court.
A plea filed by a lawyer sought urgent hearing, saying that the situation in the areas was critical and needed judicial intervention.

Besides seeking an SIT probe into the incident, the PIL also sought compensation for the families of the victims.
The violence in the district has left three people killed and several injured. About 60 persons have been arrested till now for their alleged involvement in the incidents of violence.
