More than 100 people were killed, while over 200 were left injured after twin explosions rocked a ceremony in Iran's southeastern city of Kerman on Wednesday. The blast hit while thousands had gathered to commemorate commander Qassem Soleimani who was killed by a US drone in 2020. According to Iranian state television, the second blast was reported nearly 20 minutes after the first one.

No one claimed responsibility for the blasts. However, Iranian officials blamed unspecified "terrorists" for the explosion. Meanwhile, a senior Biden administration official in the US said the blasts appeared to represent "a terrorist attack" of the type carried out in the past by Islamic State militants.
