Heavy Rains Paralyse Normal Life In Gujarat

In Gujarat, normal life has been paralysed in several parts of Saurashtra following rain since Friday night. Rajkot, Morbi, Surendranagar and Jamnagar are the worst-affected districts. The death toll in rain-related incidents has risen to seven. 3 people are reported missing.

Teams of Army, Air Force and NDRF have been called for relief and rescue operations and people are being evacuated from marooned villages. Drinking water, food and medicines are being distributed to the 2,000 people shifted to the safer places. 

24 dams are overflowing or on the verge of overflow. People staying in the low-lying areas of dams and rivers have been asked to remain alert. Though, rain has decreased since yesterday, however, the district authorities remained on alert following forecast of heavy rains for next 24 hours. 

Chief minister Vijay Rupani reviewed the situation and asked Government officials to remain on duty despite it being Sunday.
