New Delhi: The infighting in Delhi BJP has touched nadir with state president Manoj Tiwari deciding even not to attend his office at Pandit Pant Marg. On Thursday he at the last minute shifted the venue of the Press Conference from Pant Marg to his North Avenue residence.
Tiwari’s annoyance emanates from the influence being wielded by the troika comprising national vice president in charge of Delhi Shyam Jaju, general secretary (organization) K Sidharthan and state general secretary Kuldeep Chahal.
The impact of this ongoing clash in evident as several important decisions regarding appointment to various political offices in the corporation and also the party remains pending.
This troika already foisted three names for the position of the Leader of the Party in three corporations, which has been resisted by Tiwari.
The names for all three Leaders of House were announced but the same doesn’t enjoy approval of the president.
As a result, two months after winning the MCD poll with a huge margin, the state BJP has failed to appoint Leader of the House. Dozen odd important committees have also not been formed.
As the tussle continues, Tiwari is also holding back several other organizational decisions. At least three district presidents got MCD poll tickets and won their seats. Tiwari now has to pick their replacement. He is unable to decide replacements for state vice presidents Shikha Rai, Jai Prakash and Kamaljit Sehrawat as they got corporation tickets and won their seats.
Similarly Mahila Morcha chief Preeti Aggarwal has got the coveted position of East Delhi Mayor. BJP’s Purvanchal Morcha chief has also won from a MCD seat. Thus replacements have to be found for two crucial positions of Mahila Morcha and Purvanchal Morcha.
In fact, Tiwari has to make changes at all these levels to effectively control the organization and prepare the party for snap poll, as and when it happens, as Damocles’ sword is hanging on the fate of 21 AAP MLAs. These MLAs are facing termination due to the charge of enjoying office of profit brought against them.
As the national BJP President Amit Shah has on several occasions expressed faith in the capacity of Tiwari, he no wonder is flexing muscles and taking on high and mighty I the party.
