New Delhi: The hearing in the KulbhushanJadhav case may well begin next year as the International Court of Justice has asked India to submit memorials in the matter by September 13, while Pakistan has been given time till December 13 to file counter memorials.
External Affairs Ministry spokesperson GopalBaglay told reporters on Friday that contrary to Pak claim India's request for early hearing has been entertained and procedure laid down in the matter. He said the June 8 sitting of the Court was not for hearing but to decide procedural issues.
The spokesperson also debunked Pakistan's claim that India's request seeking more time in case had been rejected by ICJ. Baglay said it is not true as India had sought four months and had got time with the court fixing the deadline in September.
Asked if the hearing in the case will begin after the submissions of the two countries, Baglay said the court will decide if it needs more submissions and then take a call on the future course of action.
