New Delhi: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has made an attempt to corner his Bihar counterpart Nitish Kumar on the issue of triple talaq. Yogi was in Bihar on Thursday for the first time after becoming Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and he took the opportunity to take a swipe at his Bihar counterpart questioning his secular credentials over the triple talaq issue.
Addressing a rally in Darbhanga, Bihar, YogiAdityanath spelt out the achievements of the government with less than 100 days in office. Chief Minister Yogi took a dig at the Nitish Kumar- Lalu Prasad duo and said that by 2020 the BJP would emerge the most powerful party in Bihar.
Nitish Kumar had publicly said that Yogi Adityanath should not come to Bihar empty-handed, and before he visits Bihar he should first implement a liquor ban and reservation for women in local bodies in Uttar Pradesh.
Yogi Adithyanath not only responded to Nitish's comments, but said plainly that the country's development was because of the leadership of Prime Minister Modi. The UP Chief Minister referred to measures taken for women, youth and disadvantaged people in Uttar Pradesh and questioned why Nitish Kumar had remained silent on issues like triple talaq.
Yogi Adityanath was in Darbhanga to participate in a program marking the completion of three years of the Modi government at the Centre. Drawing inspiration from the Ramayan, he said he had come to the land of Mata Sita from the land of Lord Ram and maintained that UP and Bihar will always be emotionally connected.
