Gaurav ASSURED OF MEDAL IN World Boxing Championship

New Delhi: Boxer Gaurav Bidhuri has assured himself of a medal at the World Championship by entering the semifinals of the bantam weight (56kg) category in Hamburg.

There were only three Indians who have managed it on this stage before the 2017 edition - Shiva Thapa (2015), Vikas Krishan (2011) and Vijender Singh (2009). 

The Delhi pugilist defeated Tunisian boxer Bilel Mhamdi in the quarterfinals via a split decision to book the last-four berth. 


National Sports Day Today; Prez To Give Awards

New Delhi: The National Sports day is being celebrated on Tuesday. It's celebrated on 29th August every year to mark the birthday of hockey wizard Dhyan Chand. To celebrate the day various programs are being conducted through the country. On this occasion, President Ram Nath Kovind will give away the sports Awards this evening. A total of 29 players have been selected to receive the honours from President.


Sindhu Settles For Silver After A Hard-Fought Final At World Championship

New Delhi: After the longest match of the World Championships, which lasted for 110 minutes, ace Indian shuttler PV Sindhu had to settle for silver after losing 19-21, 22-20, 20-22 to Nozomi Okuhara of Japan in a hard-fought final at Glasgow in Scotland on Sunday. This was Sindhu's first final appearance in the World Championship and thus her best ever performance.
