New Delhi:MonuGoyathas become the costliest player in the history of Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) when Haryana Steelers acquired his services for a mammoth Rs 1.51 crore. Rahul Chaudhary, who went to Telegu Titans for Rs 1.29 crore, was the second costliest athlete in the auctions.

Goyat made his Pro Kabaddi League debut for Bengal Warriors in 2017 and he quickly formed a deadly partnership with Jang Kun Lee. In the next edition of the tournament, he went on to score 202 points - the fifth most in the league – and was the most important player for his franchise.

Goyat was part of the Services team that lost to Maharashtra in the final of the Senior National Championships earlier this year. But, he got his revenge later in the year when he played an important role as his team lifted the Senior Federation Cup in February, thus avenging their loss at the Nationals.

Deepak Hooda, NitinTomar (Rs 1.15 crore each by Jaipur Pink Panthers and PuneriPalthans) and RishankDevadiga (Rs 1.11 crore, UP Yodhas) were the other high-value purchases in the Indian player auctions.

Earlier, FazelAtrachali became the first player to cross the Rs. 1 crore in the PKL Auctions. Atrachali, having a base price of Rs 30 lakh, sparked off a bidding war between Jaipur Pink Panthers and the Mumbai-based franchise and it was the latter who was successful in acquiring his services.
