Nine CRPF Personnel Killed In Chhattisgarh's Sukma


New Delhi: In Chhattisgarh, nine personnel of Central Reserve Police Force- CRPF were martyred and two security personnel were injured in a Maoist attack in Sukma district today. 

A team of CRPF’s 212 battalion was on a patrolling in Kistaram area of Sukma district today morning. 

Maoists ambushed the team when it was on the way to Kistaram to Palodi. 

Maoists first triggered an IED blast and blew up the Anti landmine vehicle, carrying 11 CRPF personnel and later opened indiscriminate fire. 

Nine CRPF personnel, including two ASI, were martyred in the incident, while two others were seriously injured. 

Additional forces have been rushed to the spot. The injured jawans have been airlifted to the state capital Raipur.

Prime Minister NarendraModi has said, India salutes the brave CRPF personnel who were martyred in the attack in Sukma, Chhattisgarh. In a tweet, MrModi said, his thoughts are with the families and friends of the brave martyrs. He said, the nation stands shoulder to shoulder with them in this hour of grief.

Home Minister Rajnath Singh has expressed grief over the loss of lives of police personnel in the attack. 

In a tweet, Mr Singh said, he has spoken to the Director General of CRPF regarding the incident and has asked him to leave for Chhattisgarh. 

He said, the IED blast in Sukma is deeply distressing. He bowed to each and every security personnel who attained martyrdom while serving the nation. 

The Home Minister also extended his condolences to the families of those personnel who lost their lives. He prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured jawans
