New Delhi:Acting upon the order of Lt Governor, Vigilance department of Delhi government has issued notices to all the Heads of Department (HoDs) of different departments seeking information whether they awarded any work or contract to companies owned by Mukesh Kumar, the hawala operator under scanner for donating funds to Congress and AamAadmi Party (AAP). Vigilance department has sought to know from VAT Commissioner why his department had not realized Rs six crore tax due on companies owned by Mukesh Kumar.

Mukesh Kumar is alleged to have given Rs two crore donation to AamAadmi Party, and in turn, is suspected to have got a 'relief' on the payment of Rs six crore due on VAT. The department of VAT is under Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia.
The VAT Commissioner is now under pressure to extract this money from companies owned by Kumar. The Vigilance department has issued specific direction to VAT officials to extract six crore government money from the tax defaulter. As the Vigilance probe is on, some of the companies have been found to be non-existent or exist only on paper and therefore, the officials are suspecting that these companies are involved in Hawala operations.
Lt Governor AnilBaijalreceived a complaint pertaining to illegal activities of companies owned by Mukesh few weeks ago. Taking cognisance of complaint, LG directed the Vigilance department to probe and ascertain whether these companies were getting works or tenders awarded from different departments of Delhi government. Acting on LG’s order, Vigilance department has issued letters to HODs.
Apart from ordering the Vigilance probe, LG swiftly forwarded this matter to the Ministry of Home Affairs to hand over the probe related to Mukesh Kumar to any other agency as well. Thus the four companies owned by Mukesh Kumar are also under MHA lens.
