UP Government Approves Projects Of Around Worth Rs 200 CroresFor Ghaziabad


Ghaziabad: Commuters may shortly be eased from heavy traffic snarls on GT Road in city as the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) gave a green signal for development a new bridge on Hindan River for free flow of traffic on the route.   

The proposal moved by officials for construction of a bridge on the river was cleared on January 30 after top officers including DrPrabhat Kumar, Commissioner, Meerut Division, and RituMaheshwari, Vice-Chairperson, GDA had discussed the projects with chief engineer in details. An estimated budget to the tune of Rs 20 crores was approved for the construction of a new bridge.

The development is expected to ensure the free flow of traffic on the busy route as it becomes a bottle neck over the river and causes frequent traffic jam. Other than this, the authority has approved development of a multi-level mechanized parking for cars in the city. It will be developed with an estimated cost of Rs 20 crores and will have capacity to accommodate 2000 cars in one go.

The authority has also decided to free the over-head live wire nets in city by laying underground cables for supply of electricity to residents. It approved the budget of Rs 50 crores. The work will be carried out in closed coordination of officers from PVVNL which supplies power in the city.

GDA has approved a cumulative budget of Rs 190.10 cores for several development projects aimed at resolving traffic congestions and providing residents better services in days to come. Other than development of bridge and laying down electric cable, the authority approved a budget of Rs 20 crores for constructions sewage line and improving the potable water supply to posh residential pockets in Indirapuram.

The authority turned down the proposal of developing a new elevated road on the congested route starting from the GhantaGhar to Bhatia More in city. It said that it should reproposed after conducting a feasibility study of developing a new elevated road on the stretch. It was proposed that the road would be developed with an estimated budget of Rs 85 crores.

It also disapproved the proposal of developing the Hindi river front which was proposed to invest Rs 20 crores for beautifying the river front which is in the city.
