New Delhi: The year 2019 began on a patriotic note at the domestic box office with Vicky Kaushal’s Uri becoming the first Rs 100 crore film of the year. The film continues to ride high on josh and is likely to enter the Rs 200 crore club soon. The film was later joined by Kangana Ranaut’s Manikarnika at the box office during the Republic Day weekend.

Uri is successfully running in its fourth week and has already broken a few box office records set by the biggest Indian grosser Baahubali 2. Film trade analyst Taran Adarsh updated the box office figures of the film on Twitter, “#UriTheSurgicalStrike continues its glorious journey... Biz on [fourth] Mon is next to #Baahubali2 [₹ 2.90 cr]... ₹ 225 cr+ *lifetime biz* is not ruled out... [Week 4] Fri 3.44 cr, Sat 6.61 cr, Sun 8.86 cr, Mon 2.84 cr. Total: ₹ 192.84 cr. India biz. #Uri #HowsTheJosh.” Uri holds the record of highest Day 23 and Day 24 in India with collections of Rs 6.53 crore and Rs 8.71, respectively.

New Delhi: Actor Sonali Bendre, one of most visible faces of cancer survivors in India today, took to Instagram to post a powerful message on battling the disease with caution, awareness and wisdom. She began her post by saying that because cancer was such a dreaded word, it was important to designate a day for it so as to help people deal with this disease.

She wrote: “And just the mere mention of the C word brings dread in the hearts of anyone who hears it. We fear it so much that we’d rather not talk about it... which is why it’s important to have a day where we pull out the band aid and help us deal with this disease.”

She mentioned how she too was scared but realised soon enough that resigning to her fate would not help. She continued, “I was scared too, but soon realised that burying my head in the sand was not the way to deal with this.”

Uri: The Surgical Strike Turns Out To Be His Biggest Solo Blockbuster By Grossing Rs 171 Crore So Far

New Delhi: Vicky Kaushal’s Uri: The Surgical Strike has not just turned out to be his biggest solo blockbuster but has also broken box office records of his earlier film, Sanju. The third week collections of the film are higher than Sanju and even Padmaavat in their third weeks. It earned Rs 37 crore in its third week which takes its total to Rs 171 crore. For the record, Sanju had earned Rs 31 crore in its third week.

Film trade analyst called the third week collections of the film an eye opener. He tweeted, “This is an EYE OPENER... #UriTheSurgicalStrike collects 35 cr+ in *Week 3*, which is more than *Week 3* biz of #Sanju [31.62 cr], #Padmaavat [31.75 cr] and #Simmba [20.06 cr], the #Top3 grossers of 2018. #Uri #HowsTheJosh.”
